You have booked two theatre tickets in advance for you and
your friend, however due to some reason you are unable to come. Write to your
friend about it and say
– What is the reason?
– Why can’t you move your other commitment to a different
time?
– Suggest what to do with the extra ticket.
Dear Kate,
I feel really bad
writing this letter to you. I know we had planned to watch the new Christopher
Logan play together, but due to an unavoidable circumstance I am now unable to
accompany you to that. Let me just say first of all that I’m very sorry about
this.
It so happened that
my uncle and his family were travelling last week by train. He had stepped down
from the train to buy a bottle of water, but unfortunately while climbing up,
the train began to move and he severely injured himself. Since they live in a
town smaller than our city, my father brought him here for better treatment and
he has been hospitalized right now in a critical stage. We all are very
distressed and this is why it will be very difficult for me to move out of the
house at this time.
I know I’m ditching
you at a very short notice. In an attempt to make it up to you I asked around if
anyone would like to accompany you to the play so the ticket doesn’t go to
waste. One of my neighbours is quite willing as she too loves plays written by
Logan. If you feel alright, you may go with her. I assure you she’s good
company.
I apologize once
again for not coming with you. May be we can make another plan together. Have
fun at the play!
Regards,
XYZ.
