Some people believe that the best way to spend a holiday in a foreign country is to go out to meet people, instead of staying in the hotel most of the time. What is your opinion? Give reasons and include relevant examples from your own experience.

Going on a holiday is the best way to relax and unwind from the tensions of daily life. However, this experience can be enhanced by the way you enjoy your holiday. I firmly believe that exploring your holiday destination to the fullest is really the best way to enjoy.

The reason why we go to a foreign destination spend holidays is because we want to experience something new and different. For example, an Indian going to Paris for a holiday would be witnessing a totally different culture and surroundings; it is only sensible to make the most of this experience and try to participate in things that are traditionally done there. This way, not only you develop an understanding of cultures other than yours, you also become more knowledgeable and broadminded. Sharing your travel experiences with people is a great feeling, so you obviously need to do something on your vacations that is conversation-worthy.

Staying cooped up in the hotel room would give you nothing but the same experience of your home, only with a few more luxuries and service. People spend a lot of money on foreign trips, so it doesn’t make sense to not explore the place you’re in and do the same things that you do at home. It is understandable that maybe the elderly travellers cannot tour around more, but since travelling has become so convenient and popular nowadays, there are options available for all ages to enjoy their holiday experience in their own ways and comforts.

To conclude I’d say for me, not exploring my holiday destination would leave me feeling unsatisfied regarding the opportunity I missed to embrace a new culture. I believe the newer generations are leaning more towards meeting locals and learning their traditions when it comes to travelling abroad, rather than the older ones.
