The chart below shows the amount of time that 10 to
15-year-olds spend chatting on the Internet and playing on games consoles on an
average school day in the UK. Compare and contrast necessary information.
The given bar graph compares time spent chatting on the
internet and playing games on a gaming console, between boys and girls in the
UK aged 10-15. The information is divided into three time ranges.
Overall, boys and girls were spending more time playing games
on consoles rather than chatting, around 68% against 62%. Specifically, around
33% more boys were playing games as compared to girls.
Boys playing games for 1-3 hours were 35%, whereas girls in
this time frame constituted of 13%. Around
2% of girls were recorded playing for more than 4 hours, as opposed to 10% of
the boys. A higher proportion of girls played games for less than an hour
compared to boys who liked to play for longer time periods.
Coming to chatting on the internet, girls were recorded to be
around 69% and boys were around 55%. Equal proportion of boys (25%) was
recorded under chatting for less than an hour and for 1-3 hours. Around 3% and
8% of boys and girls respectively were recorded chatting for more than 4 hours.
