You recently started commuting to work by bicycle and discovered that there is a problem with bicycle parking near the building where you work. Write a letter to the building manager and say

– Explain the reason for using a bicycle to commute.
– What problems have you encountered with parking?
– What are your recommendations to solve them?

Dear Mr. Singh,

I work in Birla Chemicals, which is the office on the fourth floor, occupying rooms 401-403 in your building. I’m writing this letter to draw your attention towards the inconvenience I’m facing at the bicycle parking area in the building.

It’s been almost a month since I started coming to the office on a bicycle. After the town planners remodelled the neighbourhood into a more bicycle and pedestrian- friendly one, it has become very convenient for me to come to the office on a bicycle. Moreover, the building constructed a new bicycle parking area that made it even more agreeable for me and others like me to use a bicycle for commuting. But lately, I have noticed that the parking area is not being maintained well. The first problem is that the trash cans have been moved there that stink up the entire area. Secondly, it’s been a week since a few of the lights went out, and the bulbs have still not been replaced. It becomes difficult and unsafe for bicycle owner to find their bikes in the dark when they leave for home.

I’d suggest you take this matter up personally and get the lights fixed as a priority. Also, please dedicate a specific area for garbage disposal that is away from the areas in the building where people gather. For this to be maintained regularly, another janitor should be appointed as the old one that the building has is clearly not capable of handling everything on his own.
