The chart shows the end of year value for four major international money market indices in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. [FTSE 100 = UK Market Index, Dow Jones = US Market Index, KOSPI = Korean Market Index, CAC 40 = French Market Index]

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.




The changes in money market value indices of four countries, UK, US, Korea and France in consecutive years from 2005 to 2008 are clearly depicted by the bar graph. The index values faced many rises and falls, from a minimum value of 2000 points to a zenith of 14000 points.

The initial three years, from 2005 to 2007 had a consistent increase in the index values of all the four international markets. The FTSE 100 market of the UK showed a steady increase of its index value from 5500 points to around 6200. A substantial increase was observes in the index value of Dow Jones, the market index of the US. It increased by 33% from 11,000 points to approximately 13,500 points. The Korean market index KOSPI stood at the lowest position with a value of around 1800 points and showed a minor change with time.

The French market index, CAC 40, remained stagnant for two years 2006 and 2007 after a slight increase in value in 2005. The year 2008 saw a major downfall in the index values of all the markets. The US market, Dow Jones, fell by around 30% in a year. The other three market indices also dropped to lower values as compare to 2007. (209 words)
