The graph below shows the consumption of fast food in the UK in grams per week between 1970 and 1990. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The given bar graph is a representation of changes in the amount of fast food consumed in the UK, from 1970 to 1990. There was an apparent increase in the amount of fast food consumed over the years by the British.

In 1970, the most popular fast food was pizza. Over 300 grams of the same was eaten every week. But there started a gradual decline in its popularity and by 1990; the consumption rate fell down by around 35%, standing at just above 200 grams. In contrast, the consumption of hamburgers and fish and chips increased substantially. The amount of hamburgers eaten shot up from about 20-25 grams per week in 1970, steadily increasing to around 95 grams per week 10 years later, rising further to around 270 grams per week in 1990, thereby overtaking the popularity of pizza. 

There was a dramatic increase observed in the popularity of fish and chips. Starting at around 80 grams per week in 1970, the consumption rose by almost 100 grams by the end of 1980, rising up to 300 grams in 1985, and ending at a spectacular 500 grams consumed per week by 1990. 

To conclude, there was a considerable increase in the overall consumption of fast food; around 420 grams of fast food was consumed every week in 1970, hiking up to almost a 1000 grams per week in 1990.
