Essay # 3

Society is becoming obsessed with material goods like fast cars, designer clothes and flashy jewellery. We have stopped caring about the important things that is why divorce rates are so high and family bonds are not as strong any more; our value system is disintegrating. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The behaviour of people and their mindset regarding the societal relationships are changing rapidly. People are getting inclined to a materialistic lifestyle and are being apathetic towards their families and the feelings which one person has for another. People in the society are getting disinterested in the crucial problems of their life and in the society, focusing only on achieving a better life in monetary terms. This ignorance can lead the entire mankind towards a state of indifference.

The dire need of a person to work day and night to sustain in this competent world doesn't allow him to give enough time to family, friends and peers. Consequently, he cannot enjoy the pleasures which he can get internally. But the fact that one should dream of living a better life cannot be ignored. One should work to get a better life in terms of food, clothing and housing. Therefore there should be a balance maintained between family and work.

There are also cases of divorces which are spawned by the stressful relationships. A person tries to gift a happy life to his family but is not attached mentally so he becomes aloof from the family. Gradually the family bonds weaken and the feeling of oneness fades away.

To conclude, one can say that a person by being convivial can try to upgrade his life keeping his family in priority, so as to not upset his personal life. One should definitely have the desire to own a good house, a luxurious car and jewellery, but this should not be at the cost of one's relationships and family values. One should learn to be temperate and not run behind magnanimity. (278 words)
