IELTS Letter # 3

Write a letter to a friend who is looking for a part time job to support his studies. In your letter
- Describe the job you found for him/her
- Explain why this job is good for him/her
- Say what he/she needs to do to get the job

Dear Chris,

It was so nice to hear from you after so long. In your last letter you said you needed a part time job. Well, the good news is I’ve found you one!

Since you’re studying mass media, I looked around for relevant jobs for you. There is a newspaper publishing house near my area that is hiring junior journalists for part time. You are required to paraphrase and proof-read the articles before they are published, and assist the journalists on field with back office support. I think this may be the best job for you as you’ll have some hands-on experience about the journalism industry, and you might possibly make some good contacts which might help you get better jobs in the future.

I have spoken to the recruiter in the company that you need to support your education with your earnings, and he has supportingly allowed you to come to work after your college timings. For you to join, they need your resume, and a good reference from a local resident, which I shall gladly provide. They also need you to agree on staying in the company for at least 6 months.

I really hope you get this job. Do let me know how your interview goes.

Regards,
XYZ. (210 words)

  2. Dear Josh,

I hope you're keeping well. I'm so sorry that I couldn't reply to your letter earlier. I was really busy with my studies and work.

I know that you've been looking for a part-time job to support your studies. If you're interested, I can make arrangements to get a job as a Housekeeper at Oaks Hotels, where I used to work before. Basically, it's a more physically demanding job that requires you to do usual cleaning that you would normally do in a house.

I think this will be a great fit for you given your experience from office cleaning. Besides, the pay is moderate and the supervisor is very flexible. You can get work as much as you want to but make sure it does not bother your studies. Also, it's located within the walking distance to campus in the CBD area.

If you're interested, you need to buy couple of black pants, some white t-shirts,pair of black shoes alone with some gloves to be used when handling chemicals. You can come by my place during this weekend and I'll show you what to expect and to do.

Let me know if this suits you so that I can set it up quickly.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Adam.
