Caveat [pron.: kay-vee-at]
  1. a warning or a definite clause regarding specific stipulations, conditions, or limitations.
synonyms:warning, caution, admonition, monition, red flag, alarm bells...
  • LAW:
    a notice, especially in a probate, that certain actions may not be taken without informing the person who gave the notice.
Eg.: It is appropriate to issue certain caveats in the state, now at the time of emergency.
Eg.: Apart from a few, minor caveats, this year's student committee performed better than I expected.
Eg.: I think it's worthwhile buying this software, keeping in mind the given caveats.
