Write a letter to a tourist agency and say

- Suggest how to improve your local area to attract more tourists.

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to apply for the post of the local tour guide for our city, published in today’s newspaper. I understand from the advertisement, that the post requires catering mostly to English speaking tourists.

I would like to inform you that I have been living in this city for 21 years now, and am familiar with all the tourist attractions. Apart from the local language Marathi, I am fluent in English and French, and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism management from Mumbai University. I am very outgoing and friendly, and I have an year’s experience as a tour guide at GoodWind Travels.

I would also like to point out that at present the surrounding areas of a few of our tourist attractions are mainly consistent of slums. Although I do not let my clients get bothered by this, the slum crowd unfortunately does pose a bit of a nuisance, especially among foreign tourists. If this can be taken care of by the authorities, it may help in attracting more visitors to our beautiful city.
