Test # 4

- What is your full name?
My name is (name_father's name_surname)

- Can I see your ID?
Yes sure!

- Where are you from?
I am from Ahmedabad, from the state of Gujarat, located in western India. It is the biggest city in Gujarat.

- Do you work or study? /
- What subject are you studying?
I study. I'm currently pursuing a graduate degree in Bachelors of Civil engineering from H. M. College in my city, and I'm in the final year of this course.

- Let’s talk about swimming.
- Do you swim well?
No, I don't know how to swim actually. I tried to learn when I was young but it turned out that I was too afraid of water.

- When did you learn to swim?
I had joined swimming coaching when I was 13 years old, in a sports club in my city. I went for 20 days, however, I couldn't get over my fear for water. I can do some basic strokes in the shallow end of a pool, but that's about it.

- What are the advantages and disadvantages of that?
The advantage is that in any crises, you can be of help and try and save anybody. Also, swimming is a great sport and a great way to stay in shape. The disadvantage for me is that I can do none of the things that I just listed out as advantages. A general disadvantage can be that your body gets tanned a lot if you swim everyday.

Cue Card
Describe a house or an apartment you live in now. Please say
- Give a general description of you place.
- When and why did you move there?
- What do you like/dislike about it? Why?
I live in an apartment on the fourth floor in a ten storey building. Our building is located in one of the posh areas of Ahmedabad, Law Garden. We have three bedrooms, a dining room, a hall and a kitchen in our house. We also have three bathrooms. We moved to this place from our old house some 18-19 years ago. We were living in a smaller house back then, and there was no lift in the building we were staying in. We moved to this house, as the surroundings nearby are lush green and peaceful. We also have a street market beside our house which is one of the popular tourist attractions in my city. Transportation to any part of the city is easily accessible from where I live, and we also have enough grocery stores and shops to fulfil our everyday needs. The only thing I dislike about my house is that we live on the fourth floor. I would've liked it if we stayed somewhere higher, like the eighth or ninth floor. In our last house too we lived on the second floor out of the three, and I always wanted to live at heights. So that's it, that's all I have to say about my house.

Discussion
- What home would you prefer to have in the future? Why?
Till four years back, I preferred living in a huge bungalow, or a mansion type of a house, sometime in future. I have always been fascinated by bungalows. But I realize now that it would be a lot of work to maintain such a huge place, and if I have a small family, living in a huge house would be pointless after a certain extent.

- Where would you like to live? Why?
If we're talking about a city where I'd want to live, then I'd say Ahmedabad only, as I'm very comfortable in this city. I know all the roads, all places, and it is such an easy going city that I wouldn't want to go someplace else. And if you meant in what kind of a house would I like to live, then I'd say a big luxurious apartment, that would satisfy me desire of living in a luxurious place, at the same time would be comparatively easier to manage.
