Essay # 28
Nowadays media is paying a lot of attention to life stories of
famous people in fields such as cinema, sports and modelling. What are the
reasons for this? Do you think it is a positive or negative trend?
Media channels are flooded with the
reports of celebrity lifestyles and gossips nowadays. Since a large number of
people follow celebrities passionately, such news articles gather a lot of
viewership. This essay shall discuss pros and cons of this issue and present a
reasonable conclusion.
A lot of news channels, magazines and
tabloids are consistently publishing stories regarding the habits and ways of
famous celebrities. From what the celebrity eats to where he goes for
holidaying is all reported for the people to see. They are so reliant on the
curiosity of the fans following these celebs that even click-bait articles have
become very common. I personally feel that this obsession has increased more
due to frequent publishing of such articles that has created an over-hyped
fixation in the society on such issues.
It is quite reasonable to be
interested in knowing about your favourite celebrity. There are examples of
many people following the success mantra of celebrities for their self-improvement.
All this is acceptable till the time this sort of information is used for
unnecessary gossip and waste of time, which is what is happening nowadays. The
media delves into the personal lives of celebrities to gather news that can
increase their own viewership, which is unethical towards both, the celebrities’
right to privacy, and responsible journalism.
Many important happenings in the
society and the country go unnoticed only because media has created a need for
such shallow news in the name of entertainment. People ignore important articles
to read more about their favourite celebrities’ scandalous life stories, so
they can gossip about it to others, and this ‘conversational-epidemic’
contributes greatly in lowering the general IQ of the people. Therefore I feel
this is not a good development.
To conclude, I opine that such tattling
publications and over emphasis on celebrity life stories is negative trend. Media
should become more responsible and publish articles with a sensible balance so
that all the sections of the society are catered to with all necessary
information.
