The
stacked bar graph shows the average scores achieved in five different school
subjects in a percentage form. The marks
are divided among ages 7, 10, 13 and 15 for both boys and girls. A surprising
revelation in the graph is that the strongest subject for one sex is the weakest
for the opposite.
At age 15, Sports at 78% and Languages at
75% were the strongest subjects, whereas a vice-versa trend is seen as the
lowest scores in these same subjects. Girls score 60% in sports and boys score
58% in Languages.
Overall the performance of boys and girls
was somewhat alike. Boys scored higher marks in Geography, with scores ranging
from 63% to 70%, while the scores for girls remained between 62% to 64%.
However, at age 15, both sexes scored 64% in this subject. The difference
between boys’ and girls’ scores for Maths and Science was almost negligible,
with marks ranging from 63% to 69% and 69% to 74% respectively.
Another general pattern than can be seen is
that both boys and girls went through a slump in performance, but this happened
at different ages for different subjects for both the sexes.
