Using the diagram given below, summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The diagram above illustrates the complex process of how a refrigerator works. A refrigerator is made up of a compressor connected by  a tube to a condenser, which is connected by a capillary tube to an evaporator.

The hot air which evaporates from the food in the refrigerator enters the tube in the form of warm low pressure gas. This warm low pressure gas enters the compressor where it is compressed, forming hot, high pressure gas. This gas then enters the condenser. Heat is then transferred to the atmosphere by radiation and the gas condenses to become cool high pressure liquid which passes through the capillary tube and back into the system.


The heat from the food kept in the refrigerator is absorbed by the liquid so that the temperature within the refrigerator decreases and the liquid leaves the evaporator as warm low pressure gas and re-enters the compressor. This gas is compressed in the compressor and the process begins again.
