I’m from Pune, in Maharshtra, in the western part of India.

I am studying engineering right now.

Cue Card 1
Talk about an instance when you used a foreign language for the first time. Please say
- when was it
- why did you speak in a foreign language
- how did it make you feel
I spoke French once a few months back…well a few sentences really. I had done a non-chargeable workshop some time ago and only remembered a few fragments of French speech. Anyway, this happened when I had gone out with my friends once at a gathering. We got acquainted with a few friends of friends there, and there was this one dude who was a really big know-it-all. He bored us all silly with stories of his accomplishments and his high opinions about himself….What I’m trying to say is, we all had gotten really tired of him, and his talks started to get annoying after a while. Fortunately, someone started a conversation about languages and by habit this snob guy stepped in the conversation, boasting about how he has great language sense and he can understand any new language. I took my chance here and spoke to him extremely confidently in the little French that I knew, and as expected he was at a loss for words. We could all see he was just blowing smoke all that time to show off maybe, but wasn’t even half of the things he said he was. I and my friends felt really triumphant and relieved that I shut him up for good.

Discussion 1
- How many foreign languages do you know?
Just English and French.  And as I said, just bits and pieces of French.

- Is it easy to learn a foreign language?
Foreign or local, learning any language is a little tough when you start. But yes it is easy once you know the structure of the language. However, learning a new language at an early age is easier than learning it in adulthood.

Cue Card 2
Talk about a holiday that you really enjoyed. Please say
- when it was
- where you went
- what you did
- why you enjoyed that holiday
I want to talk about my trip to Goa with friends last December.  I had been to Goa before with family and we had a peaceful time looking at beaches and visiting churches. This time however I had gone alone with my friends and it was an amazing holiday. We had gone for five days and we went to all the places that were the most happening ones in Goa. We went to flea markets, night clubs, casinos, and many more places where youngsters like us would enjoy and let their hair down. Also, for many of the people in our group it was the first time out without parents, so a general feeling of exhilaration and excitement was around and we all felt very relaxed and liberated at that holiday. On the day of our return we wished we could stay a few days more – that was the craving of that holiday with us.

Discussion 2
- Let’s talk about vacations.
Sure!

- What type of vacations do you prefer, with friends or family?
Both! My friends and family members both are fond of travelling. They regularly plan trips and vacations so I get a chance to go with both of them on my own convenience.

- How hard is it to take time off from work? Why?
It has become very hard nowadays. People multitask in their jobs now, so if they take a day or two off, it is difficult to replace them for all the profiles that the person handles. Therefore the bosses do not easily give out holidays without proper substitutes.

- Do you like short or long vacations? Why?
I like short vacations. I’m a person who gets bored with the same thing very easily. So if I’m constantly on a holiday, I’d probably get homesick and want to come back. It has happened before so I can say I’d be more comfortable with short vacations rather than long ones.
