Nowadays many young people are drawn towards dangerous sports. What makes them so attractive? What measures should be taken to regulate such sports and minimize the risks?

The craze of adventurous and thrilling sports is rapidly increasing in the world, mostly attracting the young generation but they try these sports without complete knowledge and guidelines. This essay shall discuss the reasons for such a fad and the safety concerns that need to be observed while indulging in these sports.

Young blood is full of aggression and courage. They love taking risks and like to live for the thrill of the moment without thinking about its aftermath. This is why they actively participate in extreme sports like mountain biking, skiing, bungee jumping and so on to get that ‘adrenaline rush’ of excitement and enjoyment. It also adds a ‘coolness’ factor to their personality when they tell people about their stunts. Also, while doing something dangerous, you have to concentrate on it and cannot think about anything else. Hence you get relieved of all the little worries in your head making you feel happier. But however tempting these reasons may be, there is always a certain threat of getting seriously injured, or even suffering death.

As a measure to prevent the hazards associated with extreme sports, a set of personal safety guidelines should be issued to all participants beforehand. The trainer of such sports, for example a trainer teaching you to sky-dive should himself be certified and well qualified for the job so as to inform the participants of all the aspects of the sport, and keep an accurate check on them to render them fit for the sport. Also, regular inspections should be done of the environmental conditions and the gear used for these sports. The concerned authorities should also be equipped for conducting search and rescue missions in case of any mishap during adventure sport activities.

In closing I’d say it is fascinating to try out extreme and dangerous sports, and one should go for it if they have a chance. Nevertheless, not getting carried away, and planning and training adequately according to one’s physical capacities is also hugely essential.
